In December, Ranch Computing commits itself alongside UNICEF
You create images which make young and old people dream throughout the year.
In December, thanks to you, RANCH Computing will contribute to bring a bit of dream and above all well-being to the children in need by donating to the UNICEF.
For 70 years, across 190 countries and territories, UNICEF defends the rights of every child.
Brigitte MONSOU, who is the President of the UNICEF Committee of Paris-Saint-Denis, tells us about UNICEF main goals and the reasons why it is so important to take action.
What are UNICEF main goals?
UNICEF promotes the rights and wellbeing of every child, in everything we do. Together with our partners, we work in 190 countries and territories to translate that commitment into practical action, focusing special effort on reaching the most vulnerable and excluded children, to the benefit of all children, everywhere.
UNICEF was created with a distinct purpose in mind: to work with others to overcome the obstacles that poverty, violence, disease and discrimination place in a child’s path. We advocate for measures to give children the best start in life, because proper care at the youngest age forms the strongest foundation for a person’s future.
Could you give us some figures about the status of children in the world?
According to a 2016 UNICEF-sponsored report, more than half of the human beings living with less than 1.90 USD are children. Their families really struggle to provide them with primary health care and enough food in order to give them a good start in life. These deprivations leave drastic sequelae: in 2014, about 160 millions children are underweight. Unless this trend is combated, it is estimated that in 2030: 167 millions children would live in extreme poverty, 60 millions children of primary school age wouldn’t be enrolled in school, 69 millions children under 5 years old would die and 750 millions women would have gotten married as a child. But this is not unevitable and this is the reason we can all make a significative difference in the battle, even as individuals!
Who are the UNICEF-friendly companies?
Any support do matter: the increase of donations, actions, skills… allows us to fulfill our goals and to change in a sustainable way the lives of the poorest of the poor children. UNICEF-friendly companies are composed of SMEs, very small companies, traders, artisans… that donate a minimal amount of 1,000 € to UNICEF. Unless they want to donate for a particular cause, their donations are allocated according to the needs on field. Just to give you an example, with a 1,000 € donation we can outfit 280 children with a full schooling kit so that they can keep studying besides emergency situations.
